Starting to look for an internship is not as easy as many people think. There are many steps I had to follow before getting an interview with a company. One of the many steps was creating a resume. A resume includes my accomplishments as a person and qualities I have that would help me get hired in a certain internship. When I completed the resume I moved on to my cover letter. This letter explains the requirements High Tech High is looking for in an internship and why I would like to intern in that certain company. When done with those two things I just need to book an interview with a company.
I started e-mailing many architecture firms, and many did not answer. The next step was calling them and insisting, but I was never to complete this step because I go an internship before calling any of the architecture firms i was interested. I was able to get an interview on Interview Day at my school with RBF Consulting. I was really excited for this certain interview because it is an engineering firm that specializes in many different categories, but I was most interested that they specialize in architecture too.
Finally the day of the interview and I was nervous, ever since I woke up that day. I was sitting outside the classroom waiting for the person before me finish their interview with the same company. Every time the clock ticked I was getting even more nervous. I hear the classroom door open and it's my turn. I shook the interviewers hand and we went inside the classroom. He started by asking me "Tell me a little bit about yourself" and some how it went to "I love Serena Williams too, she's a great tennis player!" All of the sudden all my nerves went away and felt like I was having a conversation and not an interview. After the interview I felt confident about myself and proud that I finished with my first interview ever. Two weeks after I heard back from them and I received great news. I got the internship! It was such a stress reliever, I've never been this excited. One and a half more months and I will me interning at RBF Consulting.

Internship Process
For my Junior Internship, I will be interning at RBF Consulting which is an Engineering Firm at Clairemont Mesa. I will be working with this company with one of my peers starting May 11 to June 5, 2015.
During my internship I would be following my mentor everywhere he goes (I still don't know who will be my mentor). I will attend meetings, do paper work, go to work sites, almost everything an engineer does. During this internship I hope to find a path that leads to my future. I have always wanted to have a career that has something to do with construction and I wanted to have an internship to see if I truly like engineering. If not look for another option that has to do with construction, like architecture. Finding out what I really want excites me, especially when it's not that far away.
I am really excited to have the real world experience, and that High Tech High provides us with this wonderful opportunity. This has given me the chance to improve my researching skills, to put my self out there and gain confidence. Looking for an internship helped me with these qualities, and I didn't know that could happen by just looking for an internship. In less than a month I will be interning at RBF Consulting and hopefully finding out more about myself. I am extremely excited to work at a place that I decided I wanted to work at.
