This week, I was able to interview my mentor. I asked him a few questions about himself and some about the organization. The following are the questions I asked and his answers to my questions.
Questions about my mentor
2. How did you end up doing choosing this career?
I first wanted to become a journalist, I wanted to major as a journalist. When I started my first semester in college I received my classes and one of the classes I had to take was shakespeare, and I hated shakespeare. So I went to go switch out of this class and they told me I had to take it, that it was a requirement. I decided I did not want to take it and I quit journalism. I was interested in architecture but I decided to choose civil engineer, I am good at math, I didn't suck so I just went for it. I started liking it and I just stuck with it
3. Is there anything you wish you'd realized about the world of work when you were my age?
I don't have any regrets, but I think it could have been helpful to know that everyday is an interview, to keep proving yourself.
Questions about the organization
4. What other advice do you have about working here?
I would give you the same advice as the last question, to just keep proving yourself everyday.
Questions about this career
5. How important is getting along with other people in your career?
It is very important. It is the most important thing, you never know when you are going to need help from someone or need to ask for a favor. It is also very important for me as a construction manager to hire someone that I can get along with. That is mart but also an interesting person. If they're not why would I want to work with them. You need someone you like to be able to work with them.
